Implementasi Standar Koleksi Perpustakaan di Dinas Kearsipan dan Perpustakaan Kota Jambi berdasarkan Standar Nasional Perpustakaan (SNP 699: 2017)

Abstract

Introduction. Library collections are an essential component in supporting information services and lifelong learning for the community. Therefore, collection management needs to be implemented in accordance with the National Library Standards (SNP 699:2017). This study aims to analyze the implementation of collection standards at the Archives and Library Service of Jambi City based on SNP 699:2017.

Data Collection Methods. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The research subjects were selected using purposive sampling, involving the Head of Library, librarians, the Head of Library Development Division, and the Collection Development Section Head.

Data Analysis. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Data validity was tested through source and technique triangulation.

Results and Discussion. The findings indicate that the aspects of collection types, collection per capita, and collection preservation have met the standards stipulated in SNP 699:2017. Collection development and collection currency are generally in accordance with the standards, although limitations remain regarding written collection development policies and the proportion of recent collections. Meanwhile, the procurement of library materials has not met the standards due to limited budget allocation.

Conclusion. Overall, the implementation of collection standards at the Archives and Library Service of Jambi City has been carried out adequately; however, improvements are still needed, particularly in collection procurement, collection currency, and the development of written collection policies to achieve full compliance with SNP 699:2017.
