Abstract

Introduction. This study aims to describe the management of library collections, identify the challenges encountered, and examine the solutions implemented at the library of SMA Negeri 8 Batanghari Regency, Jambi Province.

Data Collection Methods. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach.

Data Analysis Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model.

Results and Discussion.  The findings indicate that library collection management has been carried out through inventorying, stamping, classification, cataloging, preparation of book cards and pockets, and shelving in accordance with library management standards. However, its implementation has not been optimal due to limited funding, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, and the shortage of qualified library personnel.

Conclusion. Efforts to overcome these challenges include submitting budget proposals, improving library facilities, recruiting competent library staff, and enhancing staff capacity through professional training. Strengthening human resources and institutional support is essential to improve the effectiveness of library collection management and to better support the teaching and learning process.
